Home Daily Digest Power-up After the storm

After the storm

We live an unpredictable life of ups and downs, having both moments of mountain-top happiness and valleys of gloom. The difficulties that arise like storms may delay us in moving forward, but they have their own sublime purpose.

Frank Lane, a former footballer, said ” If you want to see the sunshine, you have to weather the storm.” We have to learn how to cope with every difficult situation and not give up. Storms have a purpose. i.e. to chisel away at our pride, jealousy and selfishness and make us humble. The greatest difficulties of our life are the moments that God can use to refine and build our character the most.

There is an instance in the Bible where Jesus calms the storm and asks his disciples: “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Lack of faith is often the factor that prevents us from learning through the difficulties that cross our path in life. Faith and courage are essential to survive the storm and to become better through it. If we are able to do this, we can definitely become a lighthouse to others in their storms.
